Moore's law describes an important trend in the history of computer hardware. Since the invention of the integrated circuit in 1958, the number of transistors that can be placed inexpensively on an integrated circuit has increased exponentially, doubling approximately every two years. The trend was first observed by Intel co-founder Gordon E. Moore in a 1965 paper. It has continued for almost half of a century and is not expected to stop for another decade at least and perhaps much longer.
Almost every measure of the capabilities of digital electronic devices is linked to Moore's law: processing speed, memory capacity, even the number and size of pixels in digital cameras. All of these are improving at (roughly) exponential rates as well. This has dramatically increased the usefulness of digital electronics in nearly every segment of the world economy. Moore's law describes this driving force of technological and social change in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.

Don't run out and get a blackberry for the youporn. So far, I can only get YouTube videos to play, and only at the YouTube site. Videos embedded on other sites won't play. (something about flashplayer...)
Other than that, I'm pleased with the performance of the device. The more familiar I become with it, the faster I get, the slower it seems.
Its amazing what you can do with the Black Berry. If you can navigate through the menu options efficiently, you can go from "having an idea" like "why is security hassling these guys, but not me?
Interesting story about how this picture came to be. I had gotten out the calculator so that I could use its opaqueness to obscure some information on a picture of my traffic ticket before I uploaded it to the internets.
I left the calculator laying out after the project was done. Later, I took a break and saw it laying, so I picked it up and was playing with it and getting nostalgic and I started thinking about how far technology had come in such a short time.
Originally, I was just going to put them side by side and take a picture, thinking that would be sufficient enough to get the point across.
It wasn't a real important project, so I put it aside and I started to think about other things. Then I was thinking about a recent Jon Stewart's Daily Show where he did that 80085- boobs thing on his calculator.
I was chuckling about that, and wondering how come I had never heard of that before, and Eureka!!! this image was conceived.
I knew the internet would love it, but I wanted to show my wife first. She rolled her eyes at me and called me a dork.
When I told her it had over 55,000 views, she said I was still a dork.
Greetings. wow. I put this photo up and go to sleep. 8 hours later I have 21,000 views. Thanks everyone for making this a success.
