Find more photos like this on Iowa Arts and Crafts I was driving home from work and tried to stop for a red light. It was extremely slippery, and I lost all traction, sliding like a puck on ice. Fortunately, I wasn't going very fast when I rear-ended the lady stopped in front of me.
We both got out and surveyed the damage. We were in a busy intersection, and agreed to move out of traffic to exchange information. When I turned to get back in the car, I slipped on the ice and fell flat on my face. I had safety glasses on, and the side-shields shattered and bits of sharp plastic were driven into the skin around my eye. I was bleeding.
I didn't notice my hurt wrist for a few minutes, but then it really started hurting. I have broken bones before, and I was sure it was broken. I had zero strength to use the stick shift, or even use my cell phone.
I was close to home, so I had my wife take me to convenient care. X-rays showed nothing obvious, and I was given a splint to wear for a couple of days.
This happened on a Wednesday, and the wrist didn't even bruise until Monday.
What appears to be a bruise on the underside of the wrist and on the top of the thumb webbing is infact one big bruise that goes all the way through. ouch.
And thats my strumming hand, too. grrr.
I should be grateful thats all that happened. In Dubuque,
Lindsay Learman died after fender bender.
