Hey All,

One time I served jury duty, a (black) man was accused of molesting his step daughter (or daughter of his girlfriend). From what we gathered, the evidence was the girls shirt with his semen on it. The defense was that the man "cleaned up" with the shirt after having sex with the girls mother.

I wasn't selected to serve, and was dismissed. I'm not sure of the disposition of this case.

To new jurors. Show up early and expect to sit around doing nothing for much of the morning. Bring a book or magazine. Mobiles are to be turned off, so they will not be available for "entertainment" while you sit in a hushed courtroom for several hours as "back room deals" are being worked on by lawyers, judges, etc.

When they finally come out, they pick several names from a hat , and the lawyers begin asking the jurors questions, either to individuals or to the entire group. The rest of the jury pool remains hushed and does not reply to these questions, though you are expected to pay attention to the proceedings regardless.

If you are not selected, you may be dismissed early, though don't count on it.
